Akasa Air Eyes IPO in Next 2–5 Years, Says CEO Vinay Dube
Akasa Air, India's newest airline, is planning to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) within the next two to five years, according to Founder and CEO Vinay Dube.
Dube, who was speaking at the Aviation India and South Asia 2025 conference, emphasized that the airline is focused on sustainable growth and will not chase "growth for the sake of growth."
Key Highlights from the Announcement:
Financial Status: The CEO stated that the airline is currently cash-positive and that its "financials are progressing in a way we are pleased."
Operations and Fleet: The airline began flying in August 2022 and currently operates with a fleet of 30 planes.
Expansion Plans: Akasa Air is improving its financial performance and capacity, with a long-term goal to have a fleet of 226 planes by the end of 2032.
Market Share: As of August, the airline held a 5.4 per cent share of the domestic market.
Recent Funding: In the months prior, Akasa Air had secured funding from investors, including Premji Invest and Claypond Capital. These investments are primarily intended to expand operations.
