Here are the key details of the news:
Fundraising Amount: Up to ₹1,500 crore.
Securities: The funds will be raised through a mix of equity shares and/or convertible securities (including warrants, ADRs, GDRs).
Methods of Raising: The company is looking to raise the capital through multiple routes, which could include a further public offer (FPO), rights issue, qualified institutional placement (QIP), private placement, or any other permitted modes.
Approvals: The plan is subject to approval from the company's shareholders via postal ballot, as well as necessary regulatory clearances.
Board Meeting Date: The proposal was considered and approved at the board meeting held on October 25, 2025.
Context & Significance:
This fundraise comes a little over a year after Ola Electric's Initial Public Offering (IPO) in August 2024, where it had raised ₹5,500 crore.
Earlier in May 2025, the board had also approved plans to raise up to ₹1,700 crore via Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) and other debt instruments.
The company has been facing a challenging period, with its shares having declined more than 40% from the IPO price of ₹76.
It is also facing increased competition, which saw its market share in the electric two-wheeler segment slip to the fourth spot in September.
In the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025-26, the company reported a net loss of ₹428 crore, and its operating revenue nearly halved from a year ago.
The new capital is expected to be utilized for various purposes, including expansion of its two-wheeler lineup, charging infrastructure, and investment in its Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu to strengthen domestic battery manufacturing capabilities.

Widening Loss: The company's net loss widened significantly compared to the previous year, driven by a higher total expense base despite the revenue decline.
Strategic Shift: Despite short-term financial pressures, the company has announced strategic efforts toward cost-cutting and aiming for EBITDA profitability in the auto segment by FY26, alongside its expansion into the energy storage market.
