NEW DELHI – Eternal Limited, the powerhouse behind India’s leading food delivery and quick-commerce platforms, announced a landmark shift in its top leadership today. Founder Deepinder Goyal is stepping away from the Group CEO and Managing Director roles to transition into a non-executive position as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Taking the helm is Albinder Dhindsa, the architect of Blinkit’s success, who will oversee the group’s day-to-day operations and strategic execution starting February 1, 2026.

Why the Change?

In a candid letter to shareholders, Goyal explained that the move is driven by his desire to explore "high-risk exploration and experimentation" projects that do not necessarily align with the risk profile of a public-listed company.

"Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas... these are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal," Goyal stated.

Goyal emphasized that while he remains deeply committed to Eternal as his "life's work," the legal and operational demands of a public company CEO require a singular focus that he wishes to entrust to Dhindsa.

The Rise of Albinder Dhindsa

Albinder Dhindsa, an IIT-Delhi and Columbia Business School alumnus, has been a central figure in Eternal’s growth since the 2022 acquisition of Blinkit (formerly Grofers). Under his leadership, Blinkit achieved operational breakeven and became the primary revenue driver for the group.

Goyal praised Dhindsa’s execution skills, noting, "He has the DNA of a battle-hardened founder, and his ability to execute far exceeds mine."

Key Highlights of the Transition

  • Role Change: Goyal moves to Vice Chairman; Dhindsa becomes Group CEO.

  • Effective Date: February 1, 2026.

  • Financial Impact: The announcement coincided with Eternal reporting a consolidated net profit of ₹102 crore for Q3 FY26, a 73% year-on-year jump.

  • Equity: Goyal announced that his unvested ESOPs will revert to the company’s pool to reward future leaders without further shareholder dilution.

Future Outlook

While Dhindsa takes over the operational "center of gravity," Goyal will continue to influence long-term strategy, culture, and governance. The transition signals Eternal’s evolution from a founder-led startup into a mature, professionally-run institution with a heavy focus on the booming quick-commerce sector.
